WAT’s strong legal team includes 25 lawyers operating in Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Peshawar, Lahore, Multan and Karachi. The organization maintains legal aid cells in these cities, which provide assistance to women and juveniles in prison, as well as to other needy women who approach them from the community. WAT pursues cases in courts and funds bail and fine payments for women and juvenile prisoners.
Currently, WAT is providing legal aid at:
- Central Jail Kot Lakhpat (women ward), Lahore
- Central Jail Adiala (women/Juvenile wards), Rawalpindi
- District Jail (women/Juvenile wards), Attock
- Central Jail (women ward), Peshawar
- Central Jail (women ward), Karachi
WAT provides free legal assistance to the community and pursues cases with a focus on achieving out-of-court settlements so that unnecessary emotional and monetary costs can be avoided. |
