Skills, Literacy & Educational Support - Women Aid Trust

The spiritual and emotional rehabilitation of prison inmates needs to be accompanied with opportunities for constructive thinking and work, so that the positive effects of inner rejuvenation can be translated into actions and improvements in their practical life. WAT offers several skill development courses at prisons, including

  • Cutting and sewing
  • Beadwork
  • Tailoring
  • Electrician Training
  • Computer literacy

There is special emphasis on education and literacy for the juveniles . WAT provides primary, secondary and higher secondary level education, combined with extracurricular activities, including sports. Students are facilitated in obtaining Board and University certification through examination. With the help of the Children’s Resources International (CRI), WAT is also running a regular Montessori program for children of women prisoners at Central Jail, Adiala, Rawalpindi.
